Kickin' It with Keegan: Merry Christmas – Part 3 and First Plane Ride

Two days after Christmas, we hopped on a jet for Keegan’s first plane ride and trip to California to celebrate a belated Christmas with the Cabacungan clan. I was a bit nervous about how it would be flying with a baby, but no worry needed because Keegan did GREAT on the trip out and back!

We flew Southwest and paid the extra $10 each to make sure we scored an “A” boarding pass. Since Keegan was traveling as a lap baby, our strategy was to snag an aisle seat for Matt and a middle seat for Keegan and me. With SWA’s cattle call boarding procedure the window seat next to Keegan and me was inevitably always one of the last seats filled. But remember what I said in an earlier post about Keegan’s natural ability to charm those around him? Well he did it on the plane too. I don’t know how many comments we got about what a good baby he was…”best baby I’ve ever seen on a plane”.

On our trip out, when we landed in Phoenix for our layover, we waited for everyone else to de-plane before we got off the plane. Matt took Keegan and moved a few rows up so that our window seat mate could get out. I snapped the following picture of Keegan waving goodbye to everyone.

Now, seriously, how can you not be charmed by this kid?

We weren’t scheduled to land in California until about 8:15pm PST. Since that was after 11pm Indiana time, I was sure Keegan would fall asleep on our last leg to San Jose. But he didn’t. He was too busy checking out what was going on and charming all the flight attendants. He didn’t fall asleep until literally the moment the wheels touched down on the runway. You can see from this photo how thrilled Matt was about Keegan’s timing.

We had a great week in California at Grandma Wee’s. Uncle Jun & Auntie Cindy drove up from Pasadena and Uncle Bob, Auntie Bon & cousin Renne flew out too from Pittsburgh. My mom had a huge party that week and it was a blast catching up with old family friends, my cousins and introducing Keegan to everyone!
