I Think Today's the Day I'll Go For A Walk

Keegan decided last month that he would start walking. He took his first two wobbly steps in April and would walk if we held his hands and coaxed him, but for the most part, he showed no interest in this activity for several months.

I asked the pediatrician about it at Keegan's 15-month well check and he told me - no need for worry. Keegan had just not discovered the benefits of walking yet and he would walk when he wanted to. Well, the doc was right.

On June 4th, to be exact, Keegan got up from the floor and walked from the family room, through the kitchen. On his own with no coaxing from mom and dad. Just like that.

It was the day of our zoo trip and Sarah, her fiance Brandon, and grandma Julie were here so I'm glad they got to see it too! I'm thinking that Keegan was just waiting for an audience to show off for.

Of course, I was totally caught off guard and didn't have the video camera ready, but he did take several more steps just a few minutes later, which I was able to capture on camera.

Don't you especially love the high five he gives Brandon at the end of the video?!?!

  2. You know, that is just so wonderful you all were able to experience this together. That had to make it all the more sweet. One of the awesome benefits of open adoption. I bet Sarah and her mom were beyond excited and you guys had to be so proud! Awesome!
