Two weeks ago, my old college roommate, Eunice, came out for a visit. No, I am not going crazy and referring to myself in 3rd person. I really did have a roommate in college named Eunice! We became dear friends and because it was a bit disconcerting to address one another by the name Eunice without feeling like we were talking to ourselves, we coined the nickname "GF" for each other - pronounced "Jif" and short for Girlfriend.
GF lives in Cali with her family, and since I moved, opportunities to see each other are few and far between. Aside from the name thing, something else we have in common is that our hubbies both grew up in Indiana so from time to time and fortunately for me, she makes a trip out here to visit her in-laws so I get the bonus of having one of my California friends here in the Midwest for a visit which doesn't happen too often!
We finally had a chance to have our kiddos meet and we spent the day together at the Children's Museum with her, her husband, their boy Kellen and their brand new little girl, Elsa. It took the boys awhile to warm up to one another, but when we were parting, they hugged like old friends!
