In addition to my immediate family, my Auntie Gertrude from NYC and her husband John joined us on this trip. A distant cousin of my dad's, we are indebted to her and her siblings since they took in my mom, dad, and brothers and provided a place for them to stay in CA when my parents first immigrated from the Philippines in the late 60's. The last time we had seen her was at our wedding and she hadn't met Keegan yet so it was nice to spend time with her.
Keegan charmed and provided entertainment for everyone throughout the trip. Some background info. for one of these charming Keegan moments: one of the first music CD's Keegan received as a gift was an alphabet CD that included songs for every letter of the alphabet. When he first heard the CD, we didn't get past "B" and the "Bumblebee" song for the longest time because he wanted to listen to it over and over. "I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee. Won't my mommy be so proud of me..." The song proceeds with a line that says "Oh, oh, it stung me!" That was one of the first lines Keegan picked up on when he first starting talking and everytime we listened to the song, we would both put our hands up to our cheeks and sing that line together. Somehow, Keegan brought up the Bumblebee song in SC one night when we were having dinner, he put his hands up against his cheeks and proclaimed "Oh, oh, it stung me!" It gave everyone a good laugh and provided the content for some of my favorite pictures from the trip.
