There was a lot to see and do in South Carolina. We took a day exursion to Charleston and visited
Fort Sumter, where the first shots were fired that started the American Civil War. Before this current heat wave, the day we traveled to Charleston was actually cool and rainy so the ferry ride and our visit to the Fort felt more like we were taking a trip out to Alcatraz in San Franciso!
It was Keegan's first ferry boat ride and he enjoyed the adventure. I must admit that I was a bit grumpy about the weather when we first got on the ferry, as I started to worry about not having brought sweatshirts for Keegan and myself and was annoyed about my frizzy and windblown hair. The cold rainy weather didn't phase Keegan at all though and watching him take the elements in stride made me quickly adjust my attitude. Thank God for children to remind us that life and family time should be enjoyed and who cares about a little rain?!
