We took our annual trip to Freeman Farms this past Sunday, which coincidentally was also our 12th wedding anniversary. This year, apparently, has been a good year to grow pumpkins because when we approached the farm to search for our pumpkin, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was a REAL pumpkin patch with pumpkins growing on the vine. Even though I'd grown up in the agricultural area of California's Central Valley, I'd never been to a REAL pumpkin patch before where we got to pick the pumpkins off the vine! It's all about life's simple pleasures. And yes, even though we visited Freeman Farms
last year and
the year before that, they had to previously bring in the pumpkins from somewhere else because the conditions in prior years weren't quite right for growing.
Our 5:30pm arrival time, ended up working to our advantage because we missed the rush and had the place practically to ourselves. Keegan enjoyed feeding the baby pigs, although he wasn't too excited about feeding the horse. He loved riding the train and this time around, the big boy exclaimed "I not cry." One of the Freeman boys' friends, James, even let Keegan drive the train which was a big plus.
A number of the pumpkins were still green, but Keegan picked out a good one, that weighed 31 pounds and matched his weight pound for pound. It was a great way to kick off fall and celebrate our anniversary!

I love the look of concentration on his face in the last picture. He's doing some serious work!
