This year's summer vacation has taken us to Surfside Beach, South Carolina. It was a long way to drive so we broke the trip up over 2 days with an overnight stop in Knoxville. We caravaned with my brother and sister-in-law who flew into Indiana from California the night before we left.
Keegan expressed a desire to "ride in Uncle Jun-Jun's car" so he rode a good part of the way with them and was a trooper on the long drive. We kept him entertained with snacks, library borrowed DVD's of old Caillou episodes and a few pit stops along the way.
We made it here on Saturday night and on Sunday, we attempted to visit the Brookgreen Gardens, but it was pouring rain so we postponed our visit to the Gardens until later in the week. Instead, we grabbed a bite to eat on Restaurant Row at Murrells Inlet. By the time we made it back to the beach house, the weather cleared so we spent some time in the pool and then hit the beach.
It took just a few minutes for Keegan to get oriented to the waves and this year, I am happy to report, he has spent time playing with the sand, instead of eating it!
Here are some photo highlights from Day 1 (Photo credits: Leonard, aka Uncle Bobot, aka my bro):
