Say Aaaaaaahhhhhhh!

Keegan had his first dentist appointment today. While we were in the waiting room, he kept asking me about every 2 minutes, "Is it my turn yet?"

When the dental hygienist, Miss Kim, finally came out and called his name, he didn't hesitate to get up and follow her back to the exam room, but then when she started to ask us the preliminary health history questions, Keegan replied "No, no, no! Don't talk"

He finally occupied himself with one of the toys they had in the room so I could answer her questions. Then, it came time for him to get in the chair so he could get his teeth polished. No interest. To try and entice him, Miss Kim asked him, "Do you want a new toothbrush?" To which he nonchalantly replied, "No thanks, I already have one". Good point. Smart boy.

Then Miss Kim busted out with the cake batter flavored tooth polish. At that point, Keegan decided that she was pretty cool and he did great the rest of the appointment.

After Miss Kim polished his teeth, Dr. Matt came in to check for cavities. Fortunately, there were none. He just had to scrape off a little tartar build-up. When Dr. Matt was done, Keegan proceeded to tell him, "My papa is Matt too...But I don't say Matt, I say Papa. Only mommy says Matt". Have I said this kid is hilarious?

I was pretty excited about the cake batter flavored tooth polish, even though I wasn't the one getting my teeth cleaned. But right up there was the token they give patients for the "Treasure Tower" so they can pick out a toy after the appointment was done. Keegan was pretty excited about putting the token in the treasure tower, but then once the spinning top he selected came out, he decided he didn't want it and stuffed it back into the tower opening. Oh well.

Dr. Matt, Miss Kim, and the rest of the staff were great, in case anyone is looking for a pediatric dentist!

Welcome message by the front door - nice touch!

Cake flavor tooth polish is da bomb!

  1. I'm glad it was a positive experience for him. I actually enjoy going to the dentist. I think of it as the male version of a manicure, someone fussing over me and making my teeth clean. Hopefully he will continue to like the dentist.

  2. We went to Dr. Matt a couple of weeks ago. Their office staff is sensations! Seriously! I'll have to tell you the story... the saga that is Henry's teeth. So glad Keegs did great! and no cavities. That's great!
